The Hilton Central School District and Monroe 2-Orleans BOCES are pleased to offer an informational forum designed to help parents and educators better understand the NYS learning standards and  assessments.  The informational forum will be approximately 1.5 hours in length and will provide participants with information on recent educational changes in New York State. Participants will gain an understanding of the NYS Learning Standards for ELA and math and how the standards are being assessed. In addition, the forum will provide teachers and parents with information on the role and purpose of assessments. The forum will also provide parents and educators with an opportunity to review sample questions from the NYS assessments. The session will conclude with a question and answer session.

Overview of Session:

  • Introduction and review of NYS education changes

  • History and overview of Learning Standards - ELA and Math

  • Review of curriculum and standards work in Hilton CSD

  • Overview of the role, purpose, and types of  assessments

  • Review of sample questions on the NYS 3-8 Assessments

  • Review and discussion of NYS data reports and use

  • Open Forum: Questions/Answer session on NYS Learning Standards and  Assessments
