What is a Board of Education
The Hilton Board of Education
holds study sessions when additional information on
a topic is requested. The study session involves
participation by school administrators, staff,
parents, community members, students and the board
members themselves. Board of Education meetings
begin at 7 p.m. with the study session taking place
during the first hour. The following outlines the
protocol for a study session:
Participants sign in and are seated at tables. The
various stakeholder groups are represented at each of
the tables. A facilitator and note taker are assigned
within each group.
The Board of Education
president calls the meeting to order and the Pledge of
Allegiance is recited.
The superintendent explains
the format of the evening and presents information to
the groups as a whole.
Each group discusses a series of questions.
A representative from each group reports out
the groupís findings.
The superintendent outlines the next steps
and transitions to the regular board meeting.
The board will be holding a study session on
Urban-Suburban Program - Tuesday, Feb. 24, 7
p.m., Merton Williams MS.
